Eastern Panhandle WV Real Estate Blog
Tuesday, 09 February 2016

We've shared home staging tips in the past on our blog, but with spring on the horizon, it's time to take the topic outdoors. Staging the exterior of your Eastern Panhandle home is just as important as creating a cozy setting indoors. Why? This is the first impression West Virginia buyers will receive when they look at photos of your home online or arrive out front for a showing.

How your Jefferson and Berkeley County home presents itself in photos is one of the keys to sparking interest in buyers. Consider adding the following tasks to your to-do list before you list your Eastern Panhandle home this spring:

Move your trash cans
Perhaps one of the easiest ways to clean up your home's appearence from the curb is to relocate your trash cans to the back of the house. You won't want homebuyers to focus on the large bins blocking your driveway in listing photos

Remove old landscaping
Do you have a few sad plants taking up space in your front yard? Is there a barren tree near your front door? Remove the old landscaping and replace with grass. Overgrown or even dead plants, bushes and trees in your yard can make Jefferson and Berkeley County buyers wonder what else you haven't maintained over the years.

Trim bushes and plant new
Trim back any bushes on the right and left sides of your house to ensure they are not covering any windows. Plant new bushes and hedges if necessary, but keep them below your window ledges. Add mulch or bark under the new bushes for a more polished look and to take your Eastern Panhandle home's look one step further, install window boxes to fill with bright flowers this spring.

Clean and paint the gutters
It is not uncommon to see gutters in need of repair on homes in Martinsburg, Charles Town, Harpers Ferry, Inwood, Hedgesville, Ranson, Shepherdstown and Falling Waters. Give them a good cleaning, a fresh coat of paint and straighten or place them back in their intended position.

Our experienced agents at Kable Team Realty can provide more suggestions for preparing your home to sell this spring. We are also here to answer any questions you have about the home selling process. Do not hesitate to give us a call!
